Norwegian energy company DNO ASA announced Wednesday that it has temporarily suspended oil production at its Tawke license in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq following a series of drone attacks that struck two of its key production sites early in the morning. According to a press release issued from Oslo, three explosions were reported—one affecting a small storage tank at the Tawke field and the other damaging surface processing equipment at the nearby Peshkabir field. While the blasts caused operational disruptions, DNO confirmed that no injuries were reported. The company has launched a damage assessment and expects to resume operations once that process is complete. The explosions reported by DNO on Wednesday coincided with a broader series of drone attacks that targeted oil infrastructure across the Kurdistan Region the same morning. According to the Kurdistan Region’s Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD), three separate bomb-laden drones struck oil facilities operated by U.S.-affiliated and Norwegian companies. One drone targeted the Hunt Oil facility run by HKN Energy near Baadre in Sheikhan district at 7:14 a.m., while two other drones hit DNO-operated sites in the Peshkhabour area between 6:00 and 6:15 a.m. A third drone struck the company’s Tawke field around 7:00 a.m. Though the attacks caused material damage, no casualties were reported. DNO ASA, founded in 1971 and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, is a leading oil and gas operator with active projects across the Middle East, the North Sea, and West Africa. The company maintains a strong presence in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, where it operates multiple onshore oilfields at various stages of development and production.
